Refilling my cup

I have been in NM since Aug 8, soaking in all the sunlight, green and red Chile and desert air into my soul. These new memories I make will be the source material for my dreams until I return again.  I finished a Barley hat in the Jemez mountains and started another for my sister while immersed in the sacred spaces at Ojo Caliente.  The crisp mountain air of inspiration fills my lungs and I am back in the womb of my childhood. I am blessed, privileged and grateful.  I also made a Penny Pinafore for my mom, using Italian linen from Stone Mountain and Daughter fabric store, and it was a treat to sew on the vintage Pfaff that we both found at an estate sale when I  lived in Denver.  It still sews like a dream! Ojo Caliente mineral hot springs.  My son and I soaked while the stars loomed overhead.  It was magical.  This blog was born out of a pandemic zoom class called “Design Your Own Wardrobe,” by our favorite local maker’s space HomeEc.  We discovered a sacred space for makers’ highs and lows, and the friendship sustains us from make to make.  We will use this blog to share ideas about great books, new websites, apps or anything related to making or whatever catches our fancy! Today we discussed good books for beginner knitters like me! Michelle had some great suggestions as follows: Modern Daily Knitting Knitting without Tears Learn to Knit Afghan by Barbara We also talked about the art and craft of telling a story via graphic novel using Allison Bechdel’s  The Secret to Superhuman Strength as a jumping off point.
